Mother's Day is coming, and budget is an issue. You want to give your mother a very nice present,
something she will cherish, but you can't afford to spend lots of money. This is a reality for many.
Let's look at some possible alternatives to find the perfect gift whilst keeping an eye on budget.
1. Homemade Gifts
Homemade gifts are a good choice if you have some time available, and you like crafting.
Plus, this kind of gift carries the added value that it was made with your own hands, which will be appreciated by your mom.
There is an ample range of possibilities here, and your choice depends on what you can do, and what materials you can get. If you like painting,
decorated jars, mugs or plates are a good choice. You can buy white or transparent items with no decorations, which are cheaper, and then paint
decorations yourself. If you get a jar, you can also fill it in with your mother's favourite candy. If you are good at knitting,
and you have time available to dedicate to it, a scarf, or a sweater would be something she will wear, and think of you every time she puts them on.
If you are good at cooking, you can surprise her with homemade cupcakes, cookies or a cake.
2. Gift boxes
You can make your own gift box for your mother. Just buy a nice container, a picnic basket, or a nice bag, and fill it with stuff she will like.
This will be very personalized, because the basket will only contain items she likes, and you
can manage how much you spend. It could be a themed box, like a beauty or sweets box, or even a surprise box containing all kind of items she will
like: her favourite coffee, a nice mug, chocolate, a photo frame with a family picture, shampoo, shower gel, body lotion, the possible
items you can put in the box are endless.
3. Music
For those mothers who love music, you can get her a CD of her favourite singer or band; or you could even get
assorted downloads of her preferred songs.
4. Makeup
Makeup is a nice treat and when budget is low, buying it may be postponed because it is not necessary. It is something to enjoy. So you could
get your mother some for Mother's Day and she will love it.

If your mother likes reading, she will enjoy a book. Books come in different presentations and costs, so it is a matter of looking around until
you find one you can afford, about a subject she likes.
